Say No to Nuclear Weapons, and Never to Nuclear War

A bashful bride, her teasing friends,

A delightful day, of hugs and smiles,

Not far away, the bridegroom too

Has dreams of a blissful life.

A child is born, her mother’s delight,

Poor Papa can’t see enough of her,

As Granny pushes to get her view,

While grandpa chuckles in laughter.

Grandpa was happy

To draw his first pension

Told Grandma he’d toiled enough,

Now be restful, free of tension.

All this destroyed in a moment –

A time of fire and thunder,

All had to die, had to pay

For history’s biggest blunder.

All those dreams, and all the life,

Just vanished all too soon;

Destroyed, vaporized, sentenced to death

On a deadly day of doom.

What people ignored in daily grind,

Weapons of mass destruction had been created,

Bombs a thousand times the power of Hiroshima,

Were now ready to be detonated.

Incredibly cruel and callous,

A horror beyond all horror,

Somehow, trillions had been spent,

To destroy the world forever.

Fireballs race, big storms rage;

Millions burn in fires;

Men tossed around, women torn apart;

Kids perish in endless pyres.

Birds catch fire, people perish;

And those who somehow survive

Are left to suffer the utmost pain

Before they too eventually die.

A beautiful world the workers built,

The healers healed, the farmers fed,

For countless years,

Now suddenly stands all still and dead.

Friends all this can happen,

But can also be prevented,

If we all get together and yell,

This shall never be permitted.

We don’t want nuclear weapons,

We don’t want nuclear war,

Let’s say this all together,

All friends whether near or far.

Let’s unite for peace now,

Let’s unite for our protections,

Let’s be one to create a safe world

For us and for coming generations.
